What is Media Literacy
In our Media Studies class we watched two videos about Media Literacy, each of the videos taught us what media literacy is and we heard different peoples point of view on the topic. I think that the videos were entertaining to watch. The important points I got from the first video was, it's not about just reading media, it's about creating it and the quality of it. I think that younger kids spend more time on the internet than we do, and I think that it's not going to be a good thing in later years, because I think that it will shape the way they have interactions with other people because they will be so into their phones.

ReplyDeleteI can honestly say that I really enjoyed what you have written here, especially because it is so true what you said about children and the way their future interactions with other people will be affected by the extent of their online usage. I find it a sad thought to think that toddlers are sat in front of an Ipad instead of running around or playing with toys or outside, and it makes me fear to see how the next generation will turn out when they begin to mature. Overall I think you made some great points in your reflections. Good job!

ReplyDeleteAs Jules and you have already pointed out, it will be interesting how digital devices will affect the younger generations. We already see the impact it has on your generation (and older generations). While I think some effects may be positive, the one effect that worries me is the ability to focus and pay attention long enough to "dig deeper" into issues, rather than just "skim the surface." It is too easy to be distracted by new feeds and content for users to concentrate and focus on one issue/topic.
